WMHA Executive Seeking Volunteer Equipment Manager

The WMHA is still seeking a motivated individual who can either direct or assist with Equipment management. This position is busiest during the September timeframe to distribute jerseys and equipment to the rep and local league teams. Over the winter months, this position requires mainly monitoring only until teams return equipment starting in late March and ending in April.

This position will also continue the new jersey replacement campaign, which requires follow-through on the work started last year.

AGM Date - Monday April 15th

The WMHA Annual General meeting is sheduled for this coming Monday, April 15th, starting at 8:00pm and will be held in the Community Centre room at the Woolwich Memorial Centre.

The follow positions will be open next year due to executive members leaving or potentially switching positions:

Representative Coaches

WMHA will be disclosing the representative coaches for 2013-14 in two phases. Phase 1 is now listed on the coaching page; Phase 2 will be announced at the end of April.

Permission to Skate Forms & 2013-2014 Registration

Permission to Skate forms and NRP forms will be available during the second week of April. The process is as follows:

1. Players must first register with their home association. Registration for next season is now online. You can find the registration page here.
2. You must provide payment (typically in the form of a post-dated cheque to your home association).
3. The hockey office will be open during the evenings of Monday, April 8th and Thursday April 11th from 6:30-8:30 pm to sign forms. Forms will be signed ONLY for those who have already completed registration.

Woolwich Midget LL#1 Team wins Grand River Local League Championship

Woolwich Wildcats Midget LL#1 Team won the Grand River Local League A Championship Sunday night in Elmira. They defeated the Embro team 2 games to 1 in the series, capping off an amazing season that saw the team go 22-2-3 with 108 Goals For and only 44 Goals against.

WMHA Banquet Date is Set

The Annual Hockey Banquet will take place on Sunday April 21, 2013 at Lions Hall. Lunch will be served for both groups, and ESSO Awards will be presented again this year. Special thanks go to Friends Of Hockey for sponsoring the Spirit award plaques this year.

The Junior Banquet (Mini to Major Atom) will take place from 12:00 to 1:30.

The Senior Banquet (Minor Peewee to Juvenile) will take place from 2:00 to 3:30.

More information will be emailed to Team Managers shortly regarding the award selections from each team.

2013-2014 Coaching & Staff Applications

Coaching and staff applications are now available for 2013-2014 teams. The coach must submit the completed application, indicating all assistant coaches, trainers, and manager on the application form.

Note: All assistant coaches, trainers and managers need to be approved by the WMHA coaching committee. If a member of the coaching staff is not approved they will not be eligible to roster.

Applications need to be returned by Sunday, March 31st, 2013. Interviews (if deemed necessary) will start March 31st; however, not all applicants will be interviewed.

Woolwich Atom LL#1 wins Mount Forest Tournament

The Woolwich Atom LL#1 team won the Mount Forest Atom LL Tournament held on February 9, 2013. The team won all three games including a 5-4 overtime victory against Thamesford in the final.  Way to go Boys!

Bantam LL1 wins Hanover Tournament

The Bantam LL1 team won the Hanover Canadian Tire Cup Tournament held on December 19th. The team won all three games played including a 3-2 overtime victory in the final against Hanover.

PeeWee AE team wins Hespeler Tournament

The Peewee AE Wildcats won the Hespeler Tournament that ran from December 27-28th.
They played 4 games, allowing only 1 goal against. The team beat Orangeville in the final 4-1. Congratulations to the team!

Minor PeeWee AA's win Guelph Powerplay Tournament

Congratulations to the Woolwich Wildcats Minor PeeWee AA team for capturing the championship at the Guelph Powerplay Tournament this past weekend. The team went undefeated, with an impressive record of 28 goals for and only 2 goals against. The team battled through a penalty-filled final game to defeat St. Catherines 5-1. Congratulations to the team and coaches for an outstanding performance through six games.

Bantam AE's Win Woolwich Wildcat Weekend

Congratulations to the Woolwich Wildcats Bantam AE team for capturing the championship at the 2012 Woolwich Wildcat Weekend. The team defeated Woodstock 7-4 in the final to capture the victory.

Minor Midgets headed to International Silver Stick

The RMW Woolwich Minor Midget Wildcats went undefeated in the Owen Sound Regional Silver Stick qualifier on the weekend, and will now participate in the International Silver Stick from January 10-13 in Newmarket. Congratulations to the team on a well deserved win.
